FlashForge AD5X Multi Colour - CoreXY 3D Printer: Specifications and Features
Vibrant multicolour CoreXY printing with 4-spool automatic filament switching in a compact, rigid metal-framed design. Backed by Add Labs' local Sydney stock, parts, and Australian warranty.
The AD5X builds on FlashForge’s Adventurer platform with a direct-drive CoreXY motion system, one-click auto-levelling, and a factory-integrated Intelligent Filament System (IFS) that swaps up to four colours or materials mid-print without manual intervention. It keeps the same 220 mm cube build volume as the Adventurer 5M but wraps it in a stiffer metal frame, adds 8 GB of onboard storage, dual-band Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and a 4.3-inch touchscreen. Add the optional enclosure kit when you need better acoustic control or want to contain ASA/ABS fumes, or run it open-frame for PLA and PETG work where easy access is the priority.
KEY INNOVATION: The Intelligent Filament System automates four-way filament switching with load-cell monitoring, humidity control, and jam detection—no purge towers to babysit, no midnight colour changes.
CoreXY Motion & Stiff Metal Frame
Dual-belt CoreXY kinematics hit 600 mm/s travel speed with 20,000 mm/s² acceleration. Vibration compensation maintains surface finish even on tall prints, while the rigid metal chassis tackles frequent builds without frame drift.
One-Click Auto-Levelling & PEI Flex Plate
A pressure sensor probes 25 points across the textured PEI plate before each job, building a mesh that keeps first layers consistent. Finished parts release with a flex, no scrapers required.
Multicolour & Multi-Material via IFS
The IFS cabinet houses four 1 kg spools, feeds them through a single Bowden path, and switches automatically by weight or user prompt. It’s the easiest way to produce logos, gradients, or support material changes without manual pauses.
Optional Enclosure & Camera
Run the printer open-frame for quick access, or add the acrylic enclosure + HEPA/carbon filter kit to control emissions and dampen the ~58 dB operating noise. A bolt-on camera module enables remote time-lapse and monitoring through FlashPrint or FlashCloud.
Australian Use Cases
Creative Studios
IFS-driven colour changes make branding pieces, cosplay helmets, and art installations pop without repainting.
Education & Makerspaces
Students learn multicolour workflows with a single-button levelling routine and easy nozzle access.
Product Design
Produce ergonomic models, housings, and proof-of-concept assemblies overnight with PLA, PETG, or TPU.
Hobby Print Farms
Queue sequential batches, enjoy power-loss recovery + filament runout detection, and manage spools with built-in humidity control.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the AD5X enclosed out of the box?
No, it ships as an open-frame metal printer. Add the optional enclosure + HEPA/carbon kit if you need emission control, quieter operation, or better ASA/ABS performance.
How does it differ from the Adventurer 5M / 5M Pro?
The Adventurer models share the same 220 mm cube but target budget (5M) or enclosed safety (5M Pro). The AD5X focuses on multi-colour automation via IFS, heavier-duty mechanics, onboard storage, and optional enclosure/camera upgrades.
What materials can I print?
PLA, PLA-CF, PETG, PETG-CF, and TPU work out of the box. For ASA/ABS we recommend installing the enclosure or running in a ventilated workshop. Nylon/PC are possible with community profiles but benefit from higher chamber temps.
Does it come with Australian electrical compliance?
Yes—AddLabs supplies an RCM-certified unit with an AS/NZS Type I plug. Plug it straight into any 240 V outlet.
Can I monitor prints remotely?
FlashCloud + Wi-Fi/Ethernet lets you start/stop jobs and receive notifications. Add the optional camera module for live video and time-lapses.
